About Hortus

Hortus is an independent, design-led home and garden shop in Blackheath Village, London, offering a curated selection of homewares, plants, pots, tools and garden furniture. Alongside the shop, we provide award-winning garden design and landscape construction services across South East and Central London.

Everything we bring into Hortus is chosen with intention. Our aim is not to offer everything, but to offer things we genuinely believe in.

Our Story

When Hortus moved in, the shop began as a window into our landscaping and garden construction business. Over time the displays drew in curious passers-by, and what began as a showcase gradually evolved into the home and garden shop Hortus is today.

Garden-Led

Brian, our Landscaping Director, leads a team delivering garden projects across South East London and beyond, working alongside award-winning garden designers. Their work has received a Gold Medal at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and has been featured in a number of publications.

Julia directs the retail side of Hortus, shaping the vision of the shop and its collection. She works closely with Nicola, our Shop Manager, who curates the selection and oversees the day-to-day running of the shop, along with the visual displays that define the Hortus space.

The Garden

Behind the shop you’ll find our garden space, filled with outdoor plants, pots and garden structures. Packed with seasonal planting, it allows visitors to see plants and materials in a more natural setting and reflects the same garden-led approach that shapes Hortus.
