Netherton Foundry builds its range around spun iron, a material that offers many of the benefits of cast iron while being noticeably lighter and easier to handle. The cookware heats evenly, holds temperature well and develops a natural non-stick surface over time with use.
Everything is made in Shropshire using traditional techniques, with a focus on sourcing materials locally where possible. The pans are designed to be repaired, re-seasoned and kept in use, rather than replaced, giving them a much longer lifespan than most modern cookware.
The range includes frying pans, woks, casseroles and cooking tools that work across hobs, ovens and open fire cooking. This crossover into outdoor use makes them particularly useful for garden cooking, fire pits and more informal outdoor setups.
They also look the part. The spun iron has a deep brown to black finish, giving the cookware a solid, understated look that works just as well hung up or brought straight to the table.
At Hortus, we stock Netherton Foundry for its quality, design and versatility. The pieces work just as well indoors as they do over a fire outside, and feel built to be used properly and kept for years.
